YOGA & HIRT

Yoga is an excellent complement to HIRT because yoga emphasizes our slow twitch stabilizer muscles and, as a result, promotes stamina while HIRT typically emphasizes our fast twitch muscles for short, powerful bursts of exertion. A regular yoga practice significantly reduces the risk of injury, shortens recovery time, increases range of motion, and improves respiration efficacy; all of which are wonderful companions to HIRT. Adding yoga to a HIRT regimen creates a stronger balance in overall physical fitness that can be translated into greater enjoyment of a wider variety of daily and recreational activities than either HIRT or yoga could promote in absence of the other.

AngelaYoga Instructor

Angela Dunn fell in love with the practice of yoga several years ago and set her intention a year later to take teacher training. She is deeply committed to sharing this practice with the community because she believes it changes lives in a positive way. She can often be heard saying that yoga is magic because of all the amazing benefits it’s brought into her life and the lives of others.

Angela completed her 200-hour teacher training through Essential Hot Yoga in Boise in 2017 and is registered as a RYT-200 through Yoga Alliance.

Angela has four grown daughters, two Golden Retrievers, a Chihuahua, and an elderly cat. She spends her free time hanging out with her amazing boyfriend, cooking/baking, reading, traveling, and of course, lots of yoga practice!

5 Fun Facts About Angela:
– she’s deathly afraid of heights, which is why she’s gone skydiving… twice.
– she loves all kinds of travel, but really loves cruising in the Caribbean
– apparently she has a soft-spot for red-headed pets; all three dogs and her cat are “red-heads”!
– growing up, she wanted to be a racehorse jockey, but by the time she was in 7th grade, she was already well on her way to her final height of 5’9″
– she’s a kid-at-heart; at amusement parks, she’ll ride most every ride and roller coaster

Want to take a class with Angela?
Angela teaches at the Meridian location on Wednesdays at 6:30pm.

studio, where she studied yoga anatomy and proper alignment during the practice. Ashtanga is very structured style of yoga and was the perfect platform for her to grow her ever evolving practice. Since then she’s taught at studios in Colorado and Boise and has furthered her knowledge on the benefits Yoga can bring to a student’s life as a whole. “My focus as a Yoga Instructor is to create a space for my students to reconnect to themselves on a physical, mental and emotional level. We are striving for presence, not perfection. Our choice to practice today is not only benefitting ourselves but also
or local and global communities.” -Elyssa Taylor

McKenzieYoga Instructor

Mckenzie Joyner moved to Boise, ID March 2016 & is loving meeting new people, making new friends and exploring all that Boise has to offer! She started her journey with Yoga at the University of Utah in 2013. The 200 hr YTT certification not only changed her positioning on the mat but also taught her how to be mindful & look inward for the answers in life. She’s been an athlete all her life with playing soccer in college, running triathlons & riding horses which naturally led her to teaching specialized classes to athletes during her time in SLC, Ut .  McKenzie is addicted to international travel and one of the places that changed her the most was Bali, Indonesia. She immersed herself in studying meditation, finding life’s passions & taking as many yoga classes a day during her month abroad.  As she returned to the states she decided to enroll in a Prenatal Yoga Certification through Shanti Yoga & further her knowledge of meditation & mindfulness. She loves teaching classes that allow you to sink into your body, find your breath and allow for a natural flow within. Finding your inner warrior is also something she brings to the mat in the higher energy classes.
When she isn’t teaching yoga or meditation you will find her running her business Sprouting-Vitality. Days are filled in her Commercial Kitchen cooking healthy, nutrient dense delivery meals for families in the Boise area! She specializes in maternal health with teaching prenatal yoga classes, Intuitive birth classes, nutrition for pregnancy/postpartum & offering her Doula skills to families!
